About Anthotypes: Photographic prints made from plant based emulsion.
An exploration of the historic Anthotype process, invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842.
It is an entirely natural process, using photosensitive liquid extracted from plant matter. The coated paper is positioned underneath a positive piece of film or an object and is left to expose in the sun. The sun causes the emulsion to fade in areas that are not covered and thus creates the image.
The shutter speed varies hugely from a quick 3 hours to weeks and even months.
